Tom Cruise will be returning as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise the star who rose to the heights of fame from the Hollywood super hit film Top Gun is gearing up for its sequel after 33 years. Tom himself tweeted a photo on day one of production on the highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick. The picture shows Cruise’s iconic character looking at his plane, with the words “Feel the need” inscribed over the image, giving reference to one of the most famous lines from the original film.

The sequel is reported to be a story set in the current time that will be dealing with very modern warfare. It will be exciting to see Cruise soar the skies yet again reprising his character Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
Joseph Kosinski, ‘Oblivion’ director, will be directing the sequel of the 1986 hit. Jerry Bruckheimer is returning to produce the sequel, along with Skydance’s David Ellison and Cruise. Legendary German composer Harold Faltermeyer, who created the memorable synth score of Top Gun, is also joining the production team. Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released on 12 July 2019.
But way before that, Cruise’s next film Mission: Impossible Fallout is all set to hit theaters on July 27.
