Turkish influencer Kubra Aykut, who gained worldwide attention for her viral symbolic act of marrying herself, has died in an apparent suicide at the age of 26.
According to reports from Turkish media, she fell from the fifth floor of a luxury apartment building in Istanbul’s Sultanbeyli neighbourhood on September 23. While the authorities also discovered a suicide note at the scene.
In the days leading up to her death, fans had grown increasingly worried about Aykut’s alarming social media posts.
Just hours before her tragic passing, she posted an emotional letter on her account, opening up about her struggles with weight gain. In her final post, she wrote, “I’ve gathered my energy, but I can’t seem to gain weight. I lose a kilogram every day. I don’t know what to do; I urgently need to gain weight.”
