Twitterati slam Ellen DeGeneres of her privilege over her ‘tone-deaf’ comment
While the world is on a lockdown due to coronavirus, there is one thing that most of us have realized.
There are two types of quarantines. One where you have absolutely no worries while you Netflix and chill at your privileged homes. And second, where you worry for everything, about making ends meet and about life in general.
So, when famous TV show host, Ellen DeGeneres compared the current quarantine period to a jail term, in a bid for humor, it really didn’t sit well with her audience, who began to call out Ellen for her privilege and mean jokes.
“This is like being in jail, is what it is. It’s mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for ten days and everyone in here is gay. The jokes that I have,” the host quipped, while filming for the show from her home.
Twitterati went on to point out how Ellen had made a joke in bad taste, with absolutely no concern for the poor and those in jail at all.
People called Ellen’s joke, mean.

If you want to know how unfunny Hollywood is, I suggest you watch the quarentine version of The Ellen DeGeneres Show from her home without a laugh track.

People called out Ellen for living in a mansion and calling it a jail
Ellen Degeneres really said social distancing is like being in jail when the government is out here sacrificing fast food workers who don’t even have that privilege 🤡 she probably hasn’t even discovered half of the rooms in her $27M mansion… pic.twitter.com/3l19ZI3Y7l
