As social media continues to fight over who is right and who is wrong in the Khalilur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad fight, Ushna Shah has come up with the most logical statement in the whole chaotic episode.
“My dear Pakistanio, if you are against rape, marital rape, forced marriages, forced abortion, sexual harassment, then we are on the same team,” Ushna penned down on Instagram.
She continued, “If you too believe in fighting for the rights of women that Islam grants but most of our society doesn’t, we are on the same team.”
While stating that she does not care who likes or dislikes Mera Jism Meri Marzi, Ushna tried to knock sense into her audience that words do not matter causes do. Ushna urged sane minded people to not lose focus from the real issues due to a different interpretation of slogans, the cause is mutual she emphasized.
The caption of the note, “If a man told me to shut up on live TV, no matter who he was, no matter how terrible he was, I wouldn’t use vile language, I wouldn’t shame his body. But if the rest of you would do this, to a man OR woman, then that’s on you,” was Ushna’s impactful yet polite way of addressing the issue.
