Renowned actor, writer and TV host Vasay Chaudhry has stated he will no longer be part of the Punjab Cultural Advisory Council which also includes Shaan Shahid and Syed Noor. The council was formed three months ago to help design policies and legislation needed for the development of arts and culture in Pakistan.
Vasay pointed out some plans and suggestions to strengthen the film industry in Punjab. Sharing his efforts, he stated that one of the ideas was offering medical services to veteran artists. “I’m pleased to share that by the grace of God and support from the Punjab Chief Minister, health cards are now being issued to artists across the province.”
He also added that he personally recommended that the committee introduce a Lahore Film Festival with participants from different countries. “It was also suggested that a film authority be formed in Punjab offering benefits (subsidies, permissions, etc) to help film production and the revival of the film industry within Punjab.”
However, he added that we will be stepping down from the cultural advisory council.
“I will be stepping down frm the cultural advisory council as there is No point in sitting around when the carefully & passionately thought out paperwork is Not being forwarded or implemented for reasons best known to the Cultural ministry. Pakistan Zindabad,” Vasay expressed his sentiments in a series of tweets.
