Veteran film actress Firdous Begum passes away at 73

Veteran film actress Firdous Begum passed away on Wednesday aged 73.

According to the family sources, she was under treatment at a private hospital in Lahore after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Her real name was Parveen while she gained fame from the film name Firdous.

She achieved massive popularity from the role of Heer she played in the popular film the 1970’s iconic ‘Heer Ranjha’, directed by Masud Pervaiz.

She made her film debut with Fanoos in 1963, in which she appeared in the role of a supporting actor.

Iconic Lollywood actress has over 150 Punjabi, Urdu and Pashto films to her credit. Her famous films include Khandaan, Malang, Lai Laag, and Aurat.

She was married to Pakistani filmstar Akmal Khan, who passed away in June 1967.

Firdous Begum is survived by her three children, two sons, and a daughter.
