Actress Yashma Gill has spoken out following a recent controversy stemming from her appearance at Dr Zakir Naik’s Karachi event held at the Governer House over the weekend.
The misunderstanding arose when Dr Naik misinterpreted her words, suggesting that she had quit the entertainment industry to focus on her spiritual journey. Gill clarified her stance, setting the record straight amid growing public speculation.
Taking to social media on Monday, Yashma apologized for hurting anyone’s sentiments with this misunderstanding and clarified that she is continuing to work as an actress while trying to balance “Deen & Dunya.”
Yashma Gill shared her journey during a conversation with Dr Zakir Naik, revealing that she had once turned away from faith but returned to religion after listening to his talks.
Gill posed a thought-provoking question, asking, “If Allah has already written our destiny, what control do humans really have? If we make right or wrong choices in life, who is responsible since destiny is already predetermined?”
In response, Dr Zakir Naik explained that this question often arises in the minds of many Muslims. Some are brave enough to ask it, while others hesitate out of fear of religious condemnation. He elaborated that Allah, with His knowledge of the unseen, knows the actions people will take in their lives, whether good or bad.
Dr Naik clarified that humans do not act according to what has been written in their destiny. Instead, Allah has written what humans will choose to do because He knows all. He further illustrated this with an example: if a person stands at a crossroads with four different paths, Allah has written down the path that the individual will choose based on their own decision at that moment. It is the person who selects the path, not Allah.
