Asim Abbasi’s first web series ‘Churails’ – a Zindagi original, is now streaming on ZEE5 Global and has garnered an amazing response from the viewers for its fresh and unabashed take on the patriarchy.
Starring the talented Yasra Rizvi, Sarwat Gilani, Nimra Bucha, and Mehar Bano – ‘Churails’ is a first of its kind series from Pakistan, opening a whole new arena of creativity and diverse content for the entertainment industry.
The leading lady Yasra Rizvi, who stars as ‘Jugnu Chaudhry’ in the series AKA the ‘queen of this whole jungle’ opened up about her thoughts regarding content like ‘Churails’ coming out of Pakistan.
Yasra said, “The content has released for the audience across 190 countries and is a part of the OTT space now, I am really very happy. More than that it is a matter of pride for us that a show of this caliber is made in Pakistan. I hope this builds a connect through commonality among the audience, that people across are all same, with the same emotions, thoughts and we also go through the same hardships. Women all across face the same problems and make similar sacrifices. So I hope this puts forth the message that people across boundaries/caste/creed are all same.”
According to the actress, ‘Churails’ has proved to be a step forward for the industry not only in terms of its content but also for putting Pakistani shows on the global map, catering to international audiences. It stands true to the fact that ‘Churails’ goes beyond telling typical stories and is groundbreaking for having opened doors for Pakistani content on an international streaming service like ZEE5, also determined to break the patriarchal shackles of society – something entirely new coming out of the Pakistani entertainment sphere
