Zoheb Hasan is not happy with PSL using “Disco Deewane” without prior permission

Following sizzling performances during the PSL opening ceremony, there has come a controversy, which might bring about some legal challenges for PSL organizers.

Singer Zoheb Hassan has challenged PSL for using his song “Disco Deewane” without permission and has termed it as infringement of copyrights. The song was performed by Aima Baig and Shuja Haider in Dubai during the grand opening ceremony of PSL season 4.

“I was shocked to see that a reputable platform like PSL used our track Disco Dewane without our prior permission. Outright infringement of intellectual property should be condemned and I am going to take a legal stand on this one,” wrote Zoheb on his social media.

While talking to Express Tribune, Zoheb also added that he wanted to make an example out of this one because copyrights needed to be respected across the board.

““This is not only for me or my song. Copyrights need to be respected across the board. Nazia was a very kind soul and she is not here with us today but even she would have been unhappy about it,” said the Dosti singer, who also added that PSL was an important venture for Pakistan’s image.

Disco Deewane was originally performed by Nazia and Zoheb Hassan in 1981. The song was also reproduced for the Bollywood hit film Student Of The Year after licensing the song from Sa Re Ga Ma.
