Baby doll singer Kanika Kapoor tests positive for COVID 19

Popular Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor, best known for her songs Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday. She has been admitted to the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) hospital in Lucknow.

Kanika had travelled to Lucknow from London last week. The singer is being accused of refraining from informing authorities about her travel history and also dodging the airport authorities on arrival in Lucknow.

Kanika also attended a lavish party with her friends and family at a five-star hotel in Lucknow soon after she returned where several bureaucrats, politicians, and socialites were in attendance.

The singer stayed in a sprawling apartment in Lucknow. Medical officials are now unsure of the method that should be observed to quarantine the entire building where the singer stayed and also subject the guests at the party to tests, Indian news agency IANS reported.

Kanika’s father Rajiv Kapoor, while talking to Indian media, maintained that she attended three parties after arriving in Lucknow from London.

“Six of us in our family are undergoing tests today at 4 pm. Kanika has attended three parties after her arrival. She came in contact with around 350-400 people in three parties. Along with Kanika, we are also in isolation,” Rajiv Kapoor told Indian media.

Rajiv Kapoor, however, refuted reports of Kanika misleading airport authorities. Instead, he said that she did the test at the airport and “nothing” was reported at that point in time.
