On the back of ongoing Coronavirus lockdown in Pakistan, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued notification of extension in domestic flight suspension till April 11. Earlier the aviation authority had halted the flights from March 26 to April 2.
In the wake of recent notification, all flights including commercial, private, chartered, scheduled, non-scheduled and general operations would be banned. The exception has been made for cargo and special flights, in addition to domestic operations from Islamabad airport to Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan.
The CAA has also directed Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to commence limited international flights from April 3 in order to facilitate citizens stuck abroad. In the first segment of the flights, that will be directed to Islamabad airport, passengers will be brought in from Toronto on April 3, and London on April 4.
The incoming passengers will be tested for COVID-19 at the airport lounges and transferred to hotels for six hours. In case of negative results, the passenger would be allowed to head home and those who test Coronavirus positive will be put in quarantine for the defined period.
