The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that has pledged over $250 million to support research purposes of Coronavirus pandemic, has warned against the unfair distribution of the upcoming vaccination and drugs. Stating that the vaccination should go where needed and not just to the highest bidder, chief Bill Gates has spoken over unjust distribution that may happen.
“If we just let drugs and vaccines go to the highest bidder, instead of to the people and the places where they are most needed, we’ll have a longer, more unjust, deadlier pandemic,” said the founder of Microsoft at a virtual event.
“We need leaders to make these hard decisions about distributing based on equity, not just on market-driven factors,” he added.
According to WHO, 21 variants of the COVID-19 vaccine are undergoing trials with human volunteers. The health organization also warned against the possible tug of war between countries to get their hands on the vaccine first.
