Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza on Tuesday said that if any Pakistani frontline health worker loses their life treating coronavirus patients, they will be given the title of a ‘Shaheed’ (martyr) by He the government of Pakistan.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Dr. Mirza was updating the media on the recent situation on coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The SAPM, in his statement said that the government is taking the health and safety of frontline health workers against coronavirus seriously.
Giving the details about the recently announced “Shaheed Package”, he said that the package ranges from provision of Rs3 million to Rs10 million depending on the officer’s grade.
It also has other benefits like official residence and 100% pension to the family of the deceased, he said.
Mirza said the assistance package will be applicable in ICT, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The SAPM said the government has decided for the provision of national guidelines for the health workers regarding the use of personal protective equipment across the country.
