Pakistan reports decline in COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, Zafar Mirza

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health,  Dr. Zafar Mirza said on Monday that Pakistan has reported an 87 percent decline in COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours after hitting a peak on June 20.

According to the details, Dr. Zafar Mirza took to Twitter and shared, “Today, we have the lowest number of deaths in Pakistan due to COVID-19 in last three months,” tweeted Dr. Zafar Mirza, adding that the country reported 20 deaths related to COVID-19 in a single day compared to the “peak” of 153 deaths the country reported on June 20.

PM’s aide stated that the country has recorded an “87% reduction” in COVID-19 related deaths, but also warned that there was no room for “complacency”.

Earlier a day ago, the focal person of PM Khan on COVID-19, Dr. Faisal Sultan had said that the country’s recent situation far better than what it was facing three months back.

He lauded the federal agencies and provincial governments for their collaborative efforts to fight the spread of coronavirus in Pakistan.

“Ask any hospital or medical facility. COVID-19 cases have declined drastically,” said Dr. Faisal.

So far, the country has confirmed more than 270,000 cases and approximately 5,800 deaths.

Health experts, however, warned that the less number of coronavirus does not reflect the true extent of cases in Pakistan, with many people reluctant to get tested for the disease.
