PIA suspends flight operations in Karachi after pilots suspected of contracting COVID-19

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday stopped its flight operations from Karachi after four pilots were suspected of contracting COVID-19.

According to the details, the CEO of the airline Air Marshal Arshad Malik has issued immediate commands to ground the planes.

In a statement issued by the national carrier, it was clarified that on quarantining its aviation staff in Karachi. “The PIA is strictly abiding by the instructions issued by the Government of Pakistan,” its spokesperson Abdullah Khan said.

“The instructions include measures related to disinfecting the airplane as well as the crew’s health and safety,” Khan added, saying that the instructions of the federal government were being followed at all airports in the country.

Four pilots were stopped as part of preventive measures against the virus, reports revealed.

The Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association has halted the scheduled flights as s safety measures for pilots saying that PIA has been unable to provide a safe environment.
