Punjab police has completely sealed off Raiwind city on Tuesday, shutting down all general and medical stores and restricted all residents from leaving their houses.
According to police, there is a Tableeghi mosque adjacent to Raiwind city where 50 people were suspected to have contracted the virus. After the screening of Jamaat members, it was discovered that 27 of them were positive for the virus.
“Even now more than 2,200 people of the Tableeghi Jamaat are present in the gathering,” police said.
According to police, many people have been shifted to the Kala Shah Kaku quarantine facility and a quarantine centre in Kasur while a team of doctors is currently testing them to ascertain whether or not more are infected.
