Sindh govt. announces strict lockdown till 3pm on Friday

The government of Sindh has announced to impose strict lockdown on three consecutive days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) incorporated in the preventive measures against the COVID-19 as confirmed cases have jumped to almost 36,000 in Pakistan.

As per the announcement of the provincial home department, all the business and commercial activities have been put on hold from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17.

Earlier on May 10, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced to ease the lockdown measures and granted permission to traders to reopen their businesses after meeting with the representatives of associations of small traders of Karachi at the Sindh Assembly building’s auditorium.

There will be a full-fledged lockdown in Sindh on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays except for the businesses and shops providing essential services, including selling of grocery, food, and milk items, CM said.

However, this time round, the stricter lockdown will be imposed. “From noon on Friday all sorts of businesses, including milk and vegetable shops and pharmacies, will remain closed,” Sindh Minister for Information, Nasir Hussain Shah said adding that, “there will be complete lockdown in Sindh from morning till 3pm”.

“All shops, including retail shops and medical shops, will be allowed to open after 3pm”, he added.
