Sister Ruth Lewis passes away from COVID-19 in Karachi

Sister Ruth Lewis, incharge of the Darul Sukoon organisation in Karachi, passed away from the novel coronavirus at the Aga Khan University Hospital Monday night,

According to the statement issued by the administration of Darul Sukoon, Sister Ruth Lewis, 77,  was diagnosed with coronavirus on July 8 and has been in a private hospital since.

The last rites of the deceased will be performed tomorrow at 2 pm at Christ the King Church, Khudadad Colony. Christ the King Church.

In a statement shared on Darul Sukoon’s Facebook page, the organisation’s administration has expressed deep regret and grief over her passing.

“All our Children, Nuns, and Staff are heartbroken, as we have lost a huge part of us. Please pray for the children to whom she has been a mother, for the nuns for whom she was a sister and a true inspiration, and for all the Staff whom love her and will each day try to walk in her footsteps,” the statement read.

The Chief Minister of Sindh and other personalities have appreciated his services in their condolence messages.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Sister Rath Lewis and offered condolences to her family and staff of Darul Sakoon. He said that the services of Sister Rath Lewis for the training and upbringing of special children are unforgettable.
