Bandish2 Episode-1 Review: Beginning of another intense spooky serial

It is so good to see Salluddin Sahab back on screens

Ary digital drama serial Bandish2 is a newly started drama serial based on the concept of Black magic. Penned down by Syed Nabeel and Shahid Nizami, Bandish 2 is directed by Aabis Raza. The cast of the drama includes Sania Saeed, Salludin Tonio, Affan Waheed, Amna Ilyas, Areej Mohiuddin, Zainab Qayyum, and others. It seems Bandish 2 is a sequel to the 2019 horror drama Bandish that revolved around some paranormal stuff and it may involve black magic practices.

The first episode opens with a scene showing the character of Chachi played by Zainab Qayyum who is staring at the house and there comes a flashback of her dying husband cursing his own brother. It seems that there is a lifelong animosity between the brothers most probably on the distribution of property. Then we see a family shifting back from Sukkur to their family house.

The family includes a matriarch (Sania Saeed) and her son Sameer (Affan Waheed), his wife Waniya (Amna Illyas) and their daughter and two sisters Minahil (Areej) and Rabail. The house they entered is an old dusty building full of cobwebs. The house itself is giving some spooky vibes. Rabail and Minahil both have love interests. Rabail seems to be engaged whereas Minahil likes someone and she is in a long-term relationship with someone.

Well to be honest I find the first episode of Bandish 2 a bit underwhelming and it is not as interesting as Bandish Season 1 used to be. In fact, the spookier vibes are less evident in Bandish season 2 which is making it less interesting. Well, It seems that the character of Chachi (Zainab Qayyum) has this revenge thing going in her mind. Although both the brothers have died and she is still after Sameer’s family to make their life hell. She even asks Minahil’s hand for her son Armaan to which Sameer shuns her proposal by insulting her.

Chachi has made up her mind that she will take revenge on Sameer and his family and for that she visits a necromancer (Salluddin Sahab) It is so good to see Salluddin Sahab back on screens what a veteran actor he is! He is having all sinister vibes he even quotes some religious sayings which make us doubt sorcery but then in another instance, he says that he is ready to help Chachi in ruining Sameer’s family. By the way, the necromancer knows everything. Well, still something seems missing in this serial. We need more spookier vibes, the start is not much impressive!
