Kuch Ankahi Episode-6 Review: The story continues to unfold featuring a terrific sense of humour

Sofia Phupho's back story is finally a bit revealed

ARY Digital’s drama serial Kuch Ankahi is 6 episodes down and the story is unfolding in quite an interesting way. Performances are as usual refreshing. We are loving the twists and turns in the storytelling. The previous episode is like showcasing a gallery of riveting characters. In this episode, we get to know a bit backstory of Sofia Phupho and her past ventures regarding her marriage but still, it is intriguing us to know more.

The play is efficiently raising a very important issue of Women’s inheritance rights. It also emphasises the fact that disowning someone from inheritance has no religious or legal standing. Irsa Ghazal’s character beautifully restated this fact to her husband over and over, telling him to give the rightful share to the heirs and particularly his sister as he is accountable for this in his life hereafter. Despite being a typical Pakistani mother Irsa’s character is so endearing. Loving her dialogues one feels the beauty of the Urdu language through her lines.

It is so surprising to see Agha Jaan who seems so progressive and he is also quite compassionate for his daughters but his views are so twisted for his own sister. Agha Jee going to Thanvi’s house and telling him that Sofia is back is quite an inappropriate thing to do as a brother. Agha jees and Thanvi’s banters are quite interesting again through Agha jee’s dialogue we hear pure Urdu dialogues that we rarely hear in TV Dramas these days.

Well, this episode moves around Sofia Phupho, her character is quite progressive. With her story bit unfolding we get to know a glimpse of her character she used to be rebellious, she was the bride on the run. We get to know that she refuses to marry Salman’s Manu Aadil and she elopes on her wedding day as a bride with Thanvi! Wondering how come she married the love of her life Safdar? intrigued to know more.

Salman’s mother happens to be Aliya’s mother’s fast friend. Aliya’s mother immediately gets Agha jees house’s upper portion on rent despite of Sofia Phupho’s fierce opposition. Salman is also giving mixed signals wondering if he really started liking Aliya. Yes, it seems so but professional rivalry is still there. Sofia Phupho is trying to team up with Shakeel (Adnan Samad) for her mission seems too funny. The best part of the play is how the women of the house support each other be it Aliya’s mother taking the side of her sister-in-law, or the nieces trying to cover up their Phupho. Meena’s showing her bruises and telling Samia not to tolerate domestic abuse at any cost should be an eye-opener for Samia. The episode ends up with Aliya confronting Salman in her own style.
