Kuch Ankahi Episode-8 Review: Samia really needs to grow a spine!

This episode is all about Samia's wedding festivities and her dilemma

ARY Digital’s drama serial Kuch Ankahi has a gallery of riveting characters and their backstories which is the beauty of the play as those stories are knitted so well but at the same time, it makes us hard to keep in mind all the tracks. This episode in particular is based on Samia’s wedding festivities and the dilemma she is facing. In the previous episode, we have seen that Shagufta has taken Samia’s “Bari” dresses from Saif ur Rehman.

Saif ur Rehman needs to grow a spine as well. How can he let his mother ruin a girl’s life like that? Shagufta’s father is trying to put some sanity in his head by showing him the mirror. One thing is confirmed Saif Ur Rehman is fully involved in Shagufta and he has the least interest in Samia then why he is ruining her life? Saif ur Rehman’s mother is a greedy woman who is eyeing Samia’s property.

Shagufta and her father’s character is crafted so artfully. Shagufta is an interesting character she is unconventional but not a thorough negative character. She values Saif ur Rehman’s obedience towards his mother but she knows his mother so well. It is only Shagufta who can tackle Saif ur Rehman’s mother. Shagufta is bold enough to call Samia right on her mehndi night and suggests she refuse this proposal. Isn’t she a bit late? She should have called her and convinced her earlier. This is so difficult for Samia to say no at this point!

By the way, Shagufta happens to be an unconventional “Raqeeb” as well, the way she tells Samia that she is not angry with her but she feels sorry for her that she has to face such a toxic mother-in-law. She warns her that she will not stand her cruelty and ultimately she will going marry Saif. Well after hearing all that still Samia is reluctant to say no! O God Samia please you need to grow a spine and refuse this toxic rishta. Agha Jaan has also given her ample chance for refusal but she remains silent for the sake of her mother.

The question arises why Samia’s mother is so persistent to marry her off to such a visibly toxic household. She clearly knows Saif’s mother’s intentions but still, she wants Samia to get married just because we live in a marriage-obsessed society where a girl has to get married before reaching a certain age so she will remain acceptable in society. Aliya and Salman’s banters are entertaining as usual. Ali’s prediction of Tania pairing up with Shakeel looks cute. Shakeel also seems interested in Tania. In this episode, we have seen less of Thanvi and Sofia phupho. Samia, at last, opens up with Aliya sharing with her about Shagufta’s call, Aliya asks her to refuse will Samia say no?
