Zard Patton Ka Bunn Ep-1 Review: A start of promising a story

The first episode effectively captures the essence of rural culture

HUM TV’s new offering “Zard Patton Ka Bunn,” after its two episodes is growing on us.

The makers should be praised for a realistic portrayal of rural life and strong performances by the cast.

The drama is set in the fictional village of Kesar Kallan, based on a story written by Mustafa Afridi and directed by Saife Hassan.

The first episode effectively captures the essence of rural culture, including traditional elements like local announcements made through loud speakers from the mosque and village competitions, which many viewers would found nostalgic and relatable.

The story revolves around a young girl, Meenu played by Sajal Aly. The first episode opens showing the Molvi Sahab (Adnan Shah Tipu) calling for donations to repair the Mosque’s motor and declaring cock fight haram as the viligers are gathering for cock fight dangal and a hilarious encounter between Meenu and her father, as she is awaiting her matric class result.

The story moves on introducing various other characters. And we get the first glimpse at Hamza Sohail who is playing a doctor. Dr Nofel is a kind-hearted doctor, who with his presence of mind controlled the mob on time that was about to attack a female doctor for the death of a woman during childbirth. He was praised by the head of the Global Hospital, and we get to know it was his wife who did the case involving the woman’s death.

Dr. Nofel is not pleased at all that the hospital’s administration handed over the person who has lost his wife to police without reasoning him.

Meenu’s family is realistically portrayed who is facing the dilemmas of life.

The episode wraps up showing Meenu’s father Ustad Bhoora celebrating her passing the matric exam. Meenu has stood first in the whole district in the matriculation exam. Though he has lost his favourite rooster in the cockfight.

Over all, a compelling depiction of rural life and start of promising a story.
