After the success of their recent web-series, Shameless Proposals, Sadia Jabbar Productions has brought to us another thought-provoking drama, Mujhay Beta Chaheye. As the name suggests, the story revolves around our society’s obsession with the male child. Unfortunately, even in this day and age, people are biased towards the male gender when it comes to sons.

In recent times, while many of us progressive citizens value the birth of a girl as much as that of a boy, there still largely exists a group in our society where gender inequality is prevalent! #MujhayBetaChahiye portrays the terrifying reality of this society, where the existence of multiple daughters can largely be the reason for men to get married again! Don't forget to watch #MujhayBetaChahiye by @sjproductionsofficial every Saturday at 8:00 p.m only on #APlusTV ❗ . . . #Oyeyeah #Drama #Entertainment #showbizpakistan @APlusEntertainmentChannel #SadiaJabbarProductions #ShahoodAlvi #SabreenHisbani @shahoodalvi @sabreenhisbani
Directed by Asim Ali and written by Abdul Khaliq Khan, Mujhay Beta Chahye has an incredible cast comprising of Sabreen Hisbani, Shahood Alvi, Shagufta Ijaz, and Aiza Awan. Although only three episodes have been aired, the drama has managed to capture the viewers’ attention with the strong emotions it depicts.
In this week’s episode, Rubina gives birth to her third daughter, which comes as a shock for Salman. As he was sure that it will be a boy this time, he furiously blames the doctor and the hospital staff for swapping his son with someone else’s female-child. Furthermore, he threatens to burn the hospital down in his rage, which results in him going to jail.
At the hospital, Rubina’s health gets affected as she is devastated to see her husband’s reaction. Meanwhile, Shareefan rejoices on the news of Salman’s third daughter’s birth. In her mind, her plan of marrying off her daughter, Jahanara, to Salman is going in the right direction.
Shahood Alvi gives a powerful performance as an enraged man who loses all sense and composure and acts recklessly. On the other hand, Shagufta Ijaz portrays the evil Shareefan brilliantly and does full justice to her antagonistic character.
While Aiza Awan’s character is still in the initial stages of transformation, she is already proving to be a fine actress. The story is progressing fast and we expect to see some major turning points in the upcoming episodes. Only time will tell the fate of Rubina and Salman’s future together.
