2020 Golden Globes Award Nominations Announced

The official award season has kicked off as the nominees for the 2020 Golden Globes were revealed in a ceremony live from Los Angeles on Dec. 9.

Celebrity presenters Dakota Fanning, Tim Allen, and Susan Kelechi Watson announced this year’s nominees.

The ceremony of 77th Golden Globes will air live from The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 5, 2020. And once again Ricky Gervais will be hosting the event.

The streaming giant Netflix dominates the nomination list by securing a whopping 17 film nominations, beating the competition from Hollywood studios among whom Sony finished second with just eight.

While its heart-wrenching divorce saga “Marriage Story” grabbed six nods including best drama, and earned nominations for its stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver.

Scorsese has been nominated for best director for “Irishman” but his film missed the best actor nod for his leading man Robert De Niro. Instead, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci were both selected for supporting roles.

HBO’s “Chernobyl,” Netflix’s “The Crown” and “Unbelievable” have received TV nominations in four categories each.

While, HBO’s “Barry,” “Succession” and “Big Little Lies,” Amazon’s “Fleabag,” FX’s “Fosse/ Verdon,” Netflix’s “The Kominsky Method” and Apple TV’s “The Morning Show” each secured three nominations.
