AI Impersonates Brad Pitt to Scam French Woman Out of $850,000
Police in France are investigating the scheme, as the woman’s fake ‘lover’ was a digital plot by scammers designed to get her to hand over money.

A French woman is reported to have been scammed out of $850,000 by AI impersonating Hollywood star Brad Pitt!
A French woman, identified as Anne, has become a victim of a sophisticated scam involving artificial intelligence impersonating Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. Over a year and a half, Anne was led to believe she was in a romantic relationship with Pitt, ultimately resulting in her losing approximately $850,000 (around €830,000) to the scammers.
As reported, the scam began when Anne was contacted on social media by someone pretending to be Pitt’s mother, who claimed that her son needed someone like her. This communication established a false sense of intimacy and trust.
The fraudsters utilized AI-generated images and personalized messages to convincingly emulate Pitt. They sent her what appeared to be selfies and crafted messages that deepened her belief in the fabricated relationship.
The scammers eventually claimed that Pitt required funds for kidney treatment, asserting that his bank accounts were frozen due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. This led Anne to transfer large sums of money under the pretence of helping him.
Brad Pitt’s representatives have since issued warnings about such scams, emphasizing that he does not solicit money from fans and advising caution against unsolicited online communications
Reacting to the con, Pitt’s spokesperson said: “It’s awful that scammers take advantage of the strong bond between fans and celebrities.”
“This is an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online messages, especially from actors who are not present on social networks.”
