‘Airwolf’ star Jan-Michael Vincent dies at 73

The famed 80’s TV series Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent has passed away at the age of 73.

The news of his death has just emerged, according to the death certificate he passed away on 10th of February, 2019 after suffering cardiac arrest.

His death certificate obtained by several outlets, that is how his death news came to light.

Born on 15 July 1944 in Denver, Colorado, Vincent made his first appearance on screen in the 1967 television film The Hardy Boys: The Mystery of the Chinese Junk, under the name Mike Vincent.

His acting career took off in the 1970s, he appeared opposite Robert Mitchum in “Going Home” (1971), played Charles Bronson’s hit-man protégé in the iconic Michael Winner film “The Mechanic” (1972).

Vincent also starred in the Gene Hackman Western “Bite the Bullet” (1975) about a marathon, 700-mile horse race.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe for 1971 film Going Home and again in 1984 for miniseries The Winds of War.

In 1984 he was cast as the daring pilot Stringfellow “String” Hawke, who flew the titular “Airwolf” helicopter and led its crew on daring espionage missions.

This became the game changer in actor’s career which waned after his Airwolf heyday.

During his three-season spell on “Airwolf,” Vincent became one of the highest-paid actors in American television, reportedly earned $200,000 per episode.

As being reported, Vincent started seeking help for drug and alcohol problems while he was still on the show.

Star had a long string of arrests and charges relating to domestic violence, drug possession, and alcohol abuse. In 2012 a leg infection required him to have the lower half of his right leg amputated.

His last feature film was the 2002 gang movie White Boy, he retired from acting in 2009.

His other movie roles included “Buster and Billie,” TV movie “The Tribe,” surf movie “Big Wednesday,” “Hooper,” and “Damnation Alley.”
