Ali Tareen Criticizes Lip-Syncing at PSL X Opening Ceremony

His post on X sparked widespread debate, with many fans expressing disappointment and calling the move "disrespectful" and "unnecessary".

The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) launched with an opening ceremony at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 11, 2025, marking the first time the venue hosted this event.

However, controversy arose when Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen questioned whether legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen had lip-synced during her performance.

“Are they making Abida Parveen lip sync? Please no 🙏🏼,” he wrote on X.

Tareen later remarked, “The lip syncing was bad enough…” hinting that other acts may have also mimed their performances.

His post on X sparked widespread debate, with many fans expressing disappointment and calling the move “disrespectful” and “unnecessary”.

The opening ceremony showcased performances by Abida Parveen, Ali Zafar, Natasha Baig, and Young Stunners, enhanced by fireworks and impressive visuals. Although many praised the spectacle, questions have been raised about the authenticity of the live music.

This incident added to broader criticism from Tareen, who has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management of PSL.

He accused the PCB of relying on slogans rather than delivering substantive improvements, questioning claims that PSL 10 would be the “best ever” without introducing meaningful changes.
