Alif Noon Film Adaptation Resumes Production with Shehzad Roy, Faisal Qureshi, and Sajal Aly
The film is anticipated to hit theatres in the first half of 2025
The long-awaited film adaptation of Alif Noon has resumed production, sources revealed on Tuesday, featuring Shehzad Roy and Faisal Qureshi in lead roles, with Sajal Aly confirmed as the leading lady.
This project, which was first announced six years ago, is based on a classic comedy series that aired on PTV in 1965 and was later revived in 1982.
The original series starred Kamal Ahmed Rizvi as Allan and Rafi Khawar as Nanha, who became iconic characters in Pakistani television history.
Initially slated for release in 2022, the film faced multiple delays. Speculations earlier this year included potential involvement from actress Mehwish Hayat, but only Sajal Aly’s participation has been confirmed so far.
Faisal Qureshi will not only star but also direct the film. He previously made his directorial debut with the 2022 film Money Back Guarantee starring Fawad Khan.
While the film will retain the essence of the original series, it aims to present a modern twist on the beloved characters. Qureshi has indicated that the new version will reimagine Allan and Nanha for contemporary audiences, making it accessible even to those unfamiliar with the original show.
As Shehzad Roy portrays Allan, while Faisal Qureshi takes on the role of Nanha, the film is expected to explore comedic themes relevant to today’s society.
The film is anticipated to hit theatres in the first half of 2025, generating excitement among fans of the original series and new viewers alike.
