The incident, which occurred on December 4, led to a stampede at the theater, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old woman

Hyderabad Police is reported to have arrested popular Telugu film star Allu Arjun in connection with a tragic incident that occurred during the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, on December 4, 2024.

The police investigation is ongoing, and Allu Arjun was taken into custody on Friday, December 13, where he is set to appear before a magistrate later today.

As reported by Indian media, Allu Arjun was taken into custody by the Task Force and was shifted to Chikkadpally police station.

The incident led to a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old woman, identified as Revathi, and serious injuries to her son, Sri Tej, who is currently hospitalized.

The stampede unfolded as a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, whose unexpected appearance reportedly caused chaos. Authorities noted that they had not been informed in advance about the actor’s presence, which contributed to inadequate security arrangements at the venue. This lack of communication resulted in overcrowding and ultimately led to the tragic event when the theatre’s main gate collapsed under pressure from the crowd.

Following the incident, police filed charges against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the management of Sandhya Theatre under sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. The police investigation is ongoing, and Allu Arjun was taken into custody on December 13, where he is set to appear before a magistrate later today.

In response to the tragedy, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences and pledged support for Revathi’s family, including a donation of ₹25 lakh as a gesture of goodwill.
