Apple TV+ first South Korean drama ‘Pachinko’ to star Lee Min-ho

Apple TV Plus is all set to debut in the South Korean Drama industry with series starring heartthrob Lee Min-ho.

According to the initial reports, Pachinko is going to be the platform’s first upcoming Korean drama featuring Lee Min-Ho. It will be an 8-episode series. 

The series is based upon the best-selling novel by Korean-American writer Lee Min-jin published in 2017. The novel made into headlines in 2019, after former US President Barak Obama recommended the novel to avid readers.

Pachinko, the period drama set during the Japanese Empire, will tell stories of how Korean citizens survived racism and stereotypes in unfamiliar territory.

As being reported, the storyline of the series will follow one particular family as they move and live in Japan at the height of its occupation of Korea.

Lee Min-ho is one of the highest paid South Korean actors, who reportedly charges US$62,000 per episode.

After gaining massive popularity from the 2009 high school drama Boys Over Flowers, Lee has got a few hit dramas to his credit including City Hunter, The Heirs, Legends of the Blue Sea. 

His post-military drama, The King: Eternal Monarch that came out in 2020 also available on Netflix has bagged 8.3 ratings on IMDb.
