Back when Shushmita Sen lost her passport, the organizers thought of sending Aishwarya Rai as Miss Universe contender

Actress Shushmita Sen has revealed a shocking story about her and Aishwarya Rai from times past.

Shushmita won while Aishwarya landed as a runner up at the Miss India Beauty pageant in the year 1994. Both of them won the titles of Miss Universe and Miss World pageants respectively. In her recent talk with the journalist Rajeev Masand, Shusmita shares her story of how she lost her passport right before she was supposed to leave for the international Miss Universe Pageant,

“It was given to Anupama Verma, then a very famous model and also the coordinator of the event. She had my passport to show in Bangladesh. She needed it for some ID proofing. So I very confidently told Miss India, ‘Don’t worry my passport is very safe with Anupama Verma,” shared Sush.

She further added, ” She couldn’t find it. So she did take the responsibility for it and she said’ I don’t know what I have done ‘ but the timing of it was very scary.” She tells that she was not helped by the organizers. The interviewer then told her that it was decided by the organizers that let Aishwaraya complete in the Miss Universe pageant instead of her and she went for Miss India. Shushmita says that it was correct and that proposal made me very angry.

Sushmita shares, “Because when you win something, rightfully so, you are not requesting it. So we now have to come together and ensure that this gets done. It’s easy to say ‘Yea, well now we can’t find it. The passport is lost. Miss world is in November. You go later, we’ll figure out your passport till then” The actress shared that she only cried in front of her father. However her relations with Aishwarya was never bad. ” I have always been warm to her. The idea that I have ever been cold with her is an absolute fallacy like it doesn’t exist.” says Shusmita.
