Cake picks up on the box office as glowing reviews pour in!
Cake was different. Even its marketing strategies told us so. Having seen the film, I was kind of emotionally invested in the project. It really touched me on a personal level. One hoped that film got the better box office numbers, so producers could bank such wonderful films. Day 1 and day 2, as reported by Box Office Details showed that Baaghi 2 had completely outdone Cake. The response was slow, despite almost every review giving 4 (or more) stars. Baaghi 2 bagged around 5 crores in Pakistan, while Cake could only manage 1.1cr.
Oye Yeah Review: Cake is beautifully real!
However, on Sunday which as per experts usually sees dip in performance, was a good day for Cake (and frankly fans of such cinema in Pakistan). Reversing the general trend, the movie went up to 45 lakhs making up to 1.1 crores over all. Some of it perhaps is a result of all the glowing reviews (let us take some credit). As reports, on Monday Cake also saw good sales. This is despite the fact that one of its major markets, Karachi is been blocked mostly due to on going Cricket series and obviously, cricket matches also take a chunk of the audience from films. As per reports, Cake has been doing good in Karachi, while the Punjab market is heavy on Baaghi 2.
Just got back from the premiere of #CakeTheFilm. Real contemporary non-masala Pakistani film from a debutant director, with top-notch production values and very strong performances. It opens tomorrow. You all should watch it. Detailed review to follow later.

Meanwhile, the Tiger Shroff starrer Baaghi 2 has continued to rule the cinema in Pakistan, despite a dip gaining 1.7 crores on Sunday. It seems like there is a cult following building for another star kid.
