#Cannes2021: Suspicious Package Forces Partial Evacuation Of Palais Des Festivals

The festivities at the Cannes Film Festival were disrupted temporarily on Thursday afternoon as a suspicious package forced partial evacuation ff Palais Des Festivals.

As being reported the Police set up a security perimeter in the area surrounding the building, and shortly after 3 PM local time.

According to French media, a bomb squad destroyed a suspicious package outside, causing a slight explosion.

While the alert was subsequently called off with police tweeting a “return to normal.”

As being reported, earlier in the day technicians and people inside the wing closest to the port, as well as the Debussy theater to the right side of the Palais were evacuated.

What initially appeared to some to be a bomb scare forced the partial evacuation of the Cannes Film Festival’s main venue.
