China gears up for 11th Beijing International Film Festival to be held in August

China gears up for the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BIFF) which will be held in August.

The organizers of the event announced that the BIFF will be held from August 14 to 21 in the Chinese capital.

While the ‘Mulan’ actor Gong Li will serve as the chairman of the international jury doling out the top Tiantan Awards.

The globally famous Chinese actress has starred in a slew of award-winning movies in China and abroad, including the 1987 production Red Sorghum.

The festival traditionally features the screening of noteworthy films from around the world.

The festival was initiated in 2011, while the last year’s event was delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

BIFF aims to boost exchanges among global industry insiders and has attracted increasing international attention.

China is one of the world’s top booming film markets.

China’s 2021 box office revenue topped 27 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion US dollars) as of June 20, as per the data from box office tracker Maoyan.
