Diriliş Ertuğrul’s producer announces new project on Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah

A new Turkish historical series is in the works and will be brought to the TV screens by the beginning of the New Year in Turkey.

Reports have been revealed that the producer and the screenwriter of the famous Turkish series “Diriliş Ertuğrul”, Mehmet Bozdağ has announced the making of new historical TV series on Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah. The show will be aired by January.

Bozdağ told Anadolu Agency in the premiere of the series in Uzbekistan. “It will create a great impact worldwide”.

He said that the project was started two years ago with the request of the Uzbekistan government adding that the 13 episodes of the series have already shot.

Bozdağ said that they tried to provide a new perception in terms of “cinema language,” highlight the plot that the series’ core concept is its originality.

“We tried to present Uzbek culture, geography, and history of the Transoxianan region in this series,” he said.

Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah was the ruler of the Khwarazmian Empire who initiated a tragic but integrated struggle against Mongol invasion. After various failed attempts by the leader to stop the Mongol invasion that began in the Central Asian steppes, Jalal al-Din put dynastic fights between Seljuks and Khwarazmians aside and tried to establish a united front to stop the Mongols.

Jalal-Uddin successfully defeated the seemingly unbeatable Mongol army in 1221, but he was unable to sustain the invasion and fled to Anatolia. He was defeated by Ala al-Din Kayqubad, sultan of the Anatolian Seljuks and later it is said that he was killed there by nomad Zazas.

The producer of the famous series further said that a great demand for the Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah series from the audiences was also kept in view, extending gratitude to his previous project, Resurrection Ertuğrul, which became an iconic hit globally.

Resurrection Ertuğrul is a serial set in 13th century Anatolia and tells the story of Turks in the region before the establishment of the Ottoman Empire. It illustrates the struggle of Ertuğrul Ghazi, father of the empire’s first leader.
