Faisal Javed indicates a comprehensive bill being brought to facilitate artists for royalties

Faisal Javed, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has indicated a comprehensive bill being brought to facilitate artists to receive royalties.

In Pakistan, a number of actors and artists came forward demanding royalties in terms of a re-run of their dramas.

Almost a week ago, Veteran Pakistani drama actor Naila Jafry, who has been battling cancer for the past couple of years, requested the payments of royalties to meet treatment expenses.

Addressing the issue of royalties, senator Faisal Javed in a tweet said, “Most countries around the world give royalties /residuals to artists every time a show, their work is re-run, a 2nd time or more. However, sadly in Pak where many artists are already underpaid, there is no policy or law ensuring that artists be given financial credit for their work.”
