Protests Disrupt Israeli Actress Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony

The "Wonder Woman" actress joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) when she was 20, and she served as a fitness instructor.

Protests disrupted the ceremony for Gal Gadot’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups gathered to express their views.

Gadot, 39, has been an outspoken supporter of the Israeli military. This stance has drawn both support and criticism amid ongoing genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.

The event was marked by chants of “Up with liberation, down with occupation” from pro-Palestinian protesters, who voiced their opposition to Israeli actions in Gaza. Pro-Israeli supporters also attended, holding Israeli flags and countering with messages of support for Israel.

The ceremony on Tuesday was delayed by about 15 minutes due to the disruptions, and police intervened after a pro-Palestinian protester took an Israeli flag.

Videos shared online showed officers handcuffing several demonstrators as the event continued.

Despite the tensions, Gadot proceeded with her speech, expressing gratitude and emphasizing the significance of her achievement.

The protests underscore the ongoing tensions between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups, with cultural events like Gadot’s ceremony becoming focal points for these demonstrations. The event highlighted the complex political landscape surrounding Israeli figures in the entertainment industry.
