Game of Thrones Smashes Record with 32 Emmy Nominations in a Year!

HBO’s most popular series Game of Thrones has gotten another feather in its already splendid hat. This time around the epic drama series’ finale season has managed to grab a total of 32 Emmy nominations, highest ever in the award show’s seven decade long history. Previously the record for highest ever nominations in a single year was held by NYPD Blue in 1994 with 27 nominations.

Game of Thrones at the time of its last season’s broadcast shattered viewership records as well. Despite the criticism on its hasty ending and loopholes that fans found hard to digest, the show has proven its mettle once again.

While Emilia Clarke has been nominated as the Best Actress, Kit Harrington too has made it to Best Actor’s list. The HBO series will also be defending its title of Best Drama Series, and if it manages to win it, the win will come as fourth consecutive win for Game of Thrones in the category.

The medieval era show has also successfully secured a nomination in supporting roles as well as technical categories of the award show. The show now boosts a total of 161 Emmy nominations with a whopping 47 wins under its reign.

In addition to Game of Thrones marvel, HBO too has managed to reclaim its lost glory at the Emmy Awards. After losing the battle to Netflix last year for the platform with highest number of nominations, HBO has once again come out on top. This time around HBO has a total of 137 nominations with its competitor Netflix settling in for 117 nominees in total.
