Hajra Yamin discusses her role in hit drama serial Noor Jahan

“I used to be very judgmental towards real-life submissive girls like Sumbul," she said.

Hajra Yamin has openly discussed her role Sumbul in the hit drama serial Noor Jahan.

Hajra Yamin, known for her outspoken advocacy of women’s empowerment, has taken on a contrasting role as a meek, subservient, and demure daughter-in-law in the popular serial Noor Jahan.

In a recent interview with Fuchsia Magazine, she shared intriguing insights into her character and the challenges of portraying such a different persona on screen.

Talking about her character Yamin said, “I used to be very judgmental towards real-life submissive girls like Sumbul, but now I have changed my perspective because I have seen my journey. I have a background, so I made an apology to all the real-life Sumbuls.”

She advised women dealing with marriage difficulties, “Women should leave unhealthy relationships because life has so much more to offer.”

She further added, “I have been getting an overwhelming response about my character in Noor Jahan, and people are praising my performance.”

When asked about her marriage plans, Hajra Yamin said, “I have no plans for marriage so far. There is no scene like that. I have very few people around me, and I love them a lot. I have a family around me, and it has set a very high bar for me, so it is very difficult for me to think about marriage.”

“I’m entirely focused on my work; my profession is my only commitment right now. I’m deeply passionate about what I do, and I don’t feel any pressure from my family to rush into a relationship or marriage. The only expectation was for me to finish my bachelor’s degree and become independent. I’ll marry when I find love, but I haven’t experienced that yet,” she added.

Meanwhile taking to Instagram after the latest episode of Noor Jahan, Hajra penned a heartfelt note highlighting the power of supportive women.

“The power of supportive women in our lives can be transformative. Just knowing that someone is there for you, that you’re not alone in your struggles, can shift your mindset and give you the strength to overcome challenges that once seemed impossible. It’s crucial to say the right things and use the right language; a sentence like ‘everything will be okay’ or ‘I’m always going to be there for you’ can really change the course of action for someone who is suffering. The support of women around you brings a lot of power from within, with women who catch you when you fall and clear the way for you. Understanding this can lead to connections which help us all thrive, not just survive,” Hajra Yamin aka Sumbul wrote.
