Happy Death Day 3 less likely to happen!

The third installment of Jason Blum’s horror-comedy happy Death Day isn’t very likely to happen after the sequel Happy Death Day 2U under performed at the box office. The production house has lost hopes for the next episode on the movie.

The idea was revealed through a Q&A session on Twitter where the CEO and founder of the Blumhouse Productions, Jason Blum responded to a fan asking how likely a third Happy Death Day movie would be. Jason Blum responded with “Not very [likely] but not impossible.”

The move by Blumhouse not planning a third Happy Death Day movie is not entirely a surprise to the fans as the last installment in the movie did not perform better than its predecessor. The Box Office Mojo reported that Happy Death Day 2U made only $75 million worldwide that was much less than the original $125 million gross worldwide.

Christopher Landon, who directed both the movie and wrote the second, in an interview with the entertainment reporter said what he believed in a potential trilogy:

“I always imagined this as a trilogy, so I have the third movie, but it’s just a question of whether this one [Happy Death Day 2U] does well. I would love to make the third one. I think it’s a really bonkers, fun idea.”

The director was asked what that bonkers idea might be; he said “There’s a big clue already in [Happy Death Day 2U]. There’s an end credit sequence, so people who stick around, they’ll see that. But, beyond that, mum’s the word right now.”

While Blum admitted it’s “not impossible” that Happy Death Day 3 will happen, the odds aren’t really in its favor at the moment as a fifty percent drop-off at the box office between films is a bad sign for any franchise.
