HBO is developing a COVID-19 vaccine drama, based on journalist Brendan Borrell’s forthcoming book The First Shot.
Adam McKay has joined the project as the producer.
As being reported, it is going to be a limited series, whose name is yet to be determined and is currently referred to as “Untitled Vaccine Project”.
The forthcoming book The First Shot focuses on the global coronavirus vaccine race.

Per the publication, the book tells the story of the global coronavirus vaccine race. It explores the companies and individuals putting everything on the line to save lives, the science it is based on, and the challenges playing out around politics, access, and safety.
McKay will executive produce the series through his banner Hyperobject Industries along with Todd Schulman.
The proposed project is happening under McKay’s overall deal at HBO, which he signed last year.
Additional details about the project, including cast, episode numbers, and release date are not disclosed yet.
