HBO Max Announces Release Date Amid Quarantine

From what it appears to be, the quarantine gave people the much needed time to sit back and relax whilst binge-watching their favorite tv series and shows. This is why the fans will be nothing short of thrilled to find out that HBO’s streaming service HBO Max will launch on the 27th of May as per the announcement made by AT&T’s Warner Media on Tuesday.

Warner media previously announced the launch of the service in May, however, some of its programming and functions got postponed due to the virus outbreak.

The service will be showing a variety of HBO hits including the Game of Thrones, Friends, Wonder Woman, and The Dark Knight. HBO max will be amongst the most expensive streaming sites at a price of $14.99 monthly.

The site will also be putting up new originals and some classics like new Looney Tunes Cartoons and Sesame Workshop’s The Not Too Late Show with Elmo. Unfortunately, the much-awaited Friends reunion won’t be happening for a while now.

Moreover, they will first put up the Documentary On the Record, about women who have accused the American film producer Russell Simmons of assault and harassment.

HBO currently has around 35 million subscribers and AT&T is further expecting HBO Max to reach 80 million subscribers worldwide and 50 million in the United States by 2025.

However, we are unsure of whether the current circumstances will prove to be fruitful for HBO max or not, with the entire globe quarantined in their homes, the viewership has surged. But the increase in unemployment will only make the high cost of HBO max unfeasible for the standard audience.

Those who subscribe to HBO through AT&T’s DirecTV, U-Verse, and AT&T TV will get HBO Max for free.

Before the launch of HBO Max, WarnerMedia shuffled its executive roster and named former Hulu chief executive Jason Kilar, CEO.
