International Emmys 2022: “The King’s Affection” Becomes First K-Drama To Win

‘Sex Education,’ Dougray Scott and Lou de Laage Among Winners

50th International Emmys were held in New York on Monday, having 23 countries represented across 15 categories and 60 nominees.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners during Monday’s ceremony in New York City at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel.

The ceremony was hosted by Penn & Teller’s Penn Jillette.

The main highlight of the evening was South Korean actor Song Joong-ki, who presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Miky Lee, vice chairwoman of CJ Group.

 

 

“The King’s Affection,” became the first-ever K-drama to win at the International Emmys, snagging the award for Best Telenovela category beating “Nos Tempos do Imperador” from Brazil, “Two Lives” from Spain, and “You Are My Hero” from China.

While, Ava DuVernay received the International Emmy Founders Award from Blair Underwood and Benjamin Bratt.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented Emmys to television creators and performers from eight different countries including the U.K., South Korea, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.
