The new trailer for It: Chapter 2 is out and it is certainly not for the faint hearted a Mike’s right: Pennywise is definitely back.
The new trailer reveals that the Losers’ Club is back in the upcoming sequel to the hit horror film reboot from 2017.
The new trailer shares a glimpse of the horrifying events James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean will face in the reboot. One of the first scenes in the trailer is also one adapted directly from Stephen King’s novel.
In the sleepy town of Derry, the evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to torment the grown-up members of the Losers’ Club, who have long since drifted apart from one another.
The trailer starts with the adult version of Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) in Derry, talking to the Losers. In the book, once the kids leave the town, they start to lose their memories of the place and what happened there–all but Mike, who stayed behind in Derry to serve as a metaphorical “lighthouse keeper.”
“Something happens to you when you leave this town,” Mike says. However, since he hasn’t left the town, he remembers those experiences like it was yesterday.
He is determined on making sure that if Pennywise ever reappeared, he would be ready to recall the Losers to deal with the killer clown once and for all.
The trailer also includes quite a few shots of events from when the Losers were young, including footage that was not included in the first film.
IT Chapter 2 is slated to release on September 6.
