Kareena Kapoor to play Madhubala on screen?

Seems like filmmakers have realised that the audience loves biopics made on their favorite celebrities. The success of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, Sanju is proof. Following the success, Madhubala’s youngest sister Madhur Brij Bhushan has now announced that a biopic will be made on the late legendary actress.

While an official statement for the film and the cast will be made later, Bhushan said the biopic will be produced by her “dear friends”.

“I am going in for a biopic on my sister, which will be produced by my very dear friends, very soon. It’s my humble request to all the well-wishers of Madhubala and whosoever is connected with Bollywood or elsewhere to please not attempt a biopic or anything else based on my sister’s life without my permission,” she said in a statement.

She also added that the details will be known to her fans and to all concerned when the right time comes and requested to avoid any kind of unpleasant situation.

However, Madhur Brij Bhushan won’t be directing the film for sure and only the top names are going to be involved with the film.

Earlier at the unveiling of Madhubala’s Anarkali wax figure at Madame Tussauds Delhi, the star’s sister expressed her happiness at the statue and shared who she thinks would make the perfect Madhubala from Bollywood.

“There was a time when I wanted Madhuri Dixit to play the role of Madhubala in her biopic but now it has to be Kareena Kapoor Khan as she has the same naughtiness that Madhubala used to have and she is a beautiful actress too.”

While these were her thoughts earlier, only time will tell who gets to play the legendary actress.

Some of Madhubala’s most celebrated works are Mahal (1949), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960).

She passed away in 1969 after suffering from an extended illness.
