Latest trailer of Hellboy reboot introduces comic classic character

Lionsgate films have dropped a new trailer for upcoming film Hellboy. The new two-minute-long trailer shows that the reboot of the famous comic book franchise is going to more violent, bloodier, and full of chaos.

Giving fans an extended look at the film’s titular characters Mr. Hellboy (David Harbor) and Nimue the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich), Neil Marshall helming the project.

Other than the main characters, another character from deep in the Hellboy mythos has made a quick cameo appearance, which is a remarkable element to excite long-time fans of the Right Hand of Doom.

The new trailers outline what we can expect for the plot of the film, and covers some of the familiar beats of Hellboy’s origin story. The story has been drawn from a broad arc of Hellboy comics; Darkness Calls, The Storm and the Fury, and The Wild Hunt.

The film plot covers some of the familiar beats of Hellboy’s origin story. During World War II, Hellboy was summoned from Hell by Nazis looking for an edge in the later days of the war.

He was instead adopted by the US and raised under the auspices of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, an agency designed to help fend off paranormal threats.

It is one of those threats Hellboy finds himself embroiled in: a sorceress, Nimue the Queen of Blood, has risen and is threatening to Thanos London, turning everyone to dust to do something evil.

Along the way, Nimue the Queen of blood, appeals to Hellboy’s demonic side, trying to get him to join her and to fulfill his destiny as a ruler of Hell.

This film has been rated R, not for reasons of nudity. As in a recent interview Harbor explain, “It goes R for a bit of gore and horror, but also a bit of just the mature aspect of it, the mature themes of it. Just that we’re dealing with complicated subjects.”

In another interview, talking about this character in Hellboy reboot, David Harbor further added, “You’re chopping their heads off, you’re bathing in their blood and you’re feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing. We’re taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer. He’s a weapon.”

‘Hellboy’ hits theaters on April 12th, 2019.
