LHC dismisses petition seeking a ban on the exhibition of Ehd e Wafa

The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition seeking a ban on broadcast of popular TV drama Ehd e Wafa, which is co-produced by ISPR.

Justice Shahid Waheed headed the hearing of the case. He ruled that the petition was not maintainable and directed the petitioner to first approach the Pakistan Electronic  Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for his concern over the drama.

‘If Pemra fails to respond to your case, only then you can reach out to the court,” said Justice Waheed

The petition was filed by Law student Zeeshan who was asked by the court that why did he file the plea in the first place?

Responding to the judge’s queries, Zeeshan pointed out that the drama was showing media and politicians in a bad light and tarnishing the repute of Pakistan internationally.

He urged the court to stop broadcasting of remaining episodes of the drama and also take action against the television channel.

Starring Ahad Raza Mir, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Wahaj Ali, Alizeh Shah and Zara Noor Abbas in leading roles, Ehd-e-Wafa is a rare Pakistani drama that revolves around the lives of four college friends with different hopes, goals, and aspirations.
