Mohsin Hamid’s Exit West bags the Aspen Words Literary Prize 2018

Mohsin Hamid has always been on the literary forefront with his amazing books. However,  this time his latest amazing writing, Exist West, not only received worldwide recognition but also made its way to winning the Aspen Words Literary Prize 2018.

The Aspen Words Literary 2018 awards took place on the 10th of April in New York.  Talking about his book, Exit West, Hamid went on saying former to his win ” Exit West is a novel about migration and how the world is changing — and could change — and how we are all migrants, and how we can find an optimistic future together. I’m really grateful to be honored by this prize in particular, which is a prize that looks to books to have an impact on the world.”

Winning an Aspen Words Literary Award is a big deal, the winner not only gets  a prize money of thirty-five thousand dollars but also worldwide popularity, demonstrating the trans-formative power of the author’s literature on though and culture among the people.  Among its multiple nominations of books and authors, Hamid’s Exit West was nominated for the LA Times Book Prize and was also shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.

Aspen Words Literary Prize wasn’t Mohsin Hamid’s only big win this year for Exit West,  he was also awarded with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his services in the field of literature.
