Neeru Bajwa Distances Herself from ‘Sardaar Ji 3′, Shifts Focus to Bollywood Project

Neeru shifts her focus to her next Bollywood project, Son of Sardaar 2, her social media now features only updates for this film

Neeru Bajwa, one of Punjabi cinema’s most celebrated stars, has made headlines after unfollowing her Sardaar Ji 3 co-star Hania Aamir on Instagram and deleting all promotional content related to the film from her social media accounts.

This move comes amid a growing controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film, following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack earlier this year.

Indian cine bodies have since imposed a blanket ban on Pakistani artistes, and the film’s decision to proceed with an overseas release—including in Pakistan—has sparked outrage among Indian audiences and industry insiders.

Neeru’s actions, which include unfollowing both Hania Aamir and long-time collaborator Diljit Dosanjh, have been interpreted as a clear attempt to distance herself from the project. Fans and commentators have praised her stance, calling it “brave” and a sign of solidarity with public sentiment in India.

Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh has faced criticism for continuing to promote the film, with some industry organisations even demanding a ban on his future projects and his removal from upcoming films such as Border 2.

The controversy deepened after Sardaar Ji 3 co-producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu confirmed the film would not release in India, citing respect for national sentiment and revealing the decision had resulted in a 40% loss in expected revenue.

As Neeru shifts her focus to her next Bollywood project, Son of Sardaar 2, her social media now features only updates for this film, marking a significant and public break from Sardaar Ji .
