No live audience to be present during Ramzan Transmissions, warns PEMRA

Owing to the alarming situation of coronavirus around the world and in Pakistan, the  Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued new directives according to which, no live audience will be present in the studios during Ramazan transmissions on all channels.

The notification has been issued by Pemra to ensure safety measures stay in place against the spread of the coronavirus, as the number of confirmed cases in the country has crossed 6,100 in all.

According to the Pemra directives, no gifts will also be displayed during the show – including bikes, cars, electronics and other items.

As per the notification issued, if more than one person hosts a show, the distance between the two should be more than one metre. Also PEMRA has allowed only one person to be present on the set and the staff to be provided with proper safety kits and to stay at a distance of at least one to two metres.

Moreover, the staff involved in Ramazan transmissions must be provided with proper safety kits and must maintain a distance of at least one to two metres.

Failure to follow the directives will entail legal action, as per the directives of the federal government, stated the notice.
